Brown of Menlo Park, CA, earned a $500 bonus from the Canadian glove manufacturer after winning the $5,000 Middlebrook Consulting Hunter Derby on Thursday, September 19. Riding Cosineval, a seven-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Leah Rappaport, Brown wowed the judges, earning an impressive score of 173 for the victory. Doubling his chances at taking home the bonus, Brown also rode Finally Ours, a 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Betsy and Graham Brown, Kathy and Brad Coors and Brown’s own Derby Hill Farm, in the class of 19. Their score of 172 points was good enough for second place. “I’m so happy to have won the $500 bonus,” said Brown. “I really love SSG Gloves because they are breathable on the back and allow a nice grip. It was a hot day and my hands were sweaty; my SSG gloves kept them cooler and afforded me much better contact on the reins.” Ekeroth of Penngrove, CA, rode away with $1,500 in bonus money, courtesy of SSG Gloves, after winning the $2,000 1.20m Cross Creek Tack Jumper Classic on Sunday, September 22. Ekeroth was aboard Flippo van den Bisschop, an eight-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding owned by Cavalli Volano LLC. The bonus money on offer had tripled, as the riders in the other two eligible classes had not been wearing SSG riding gloves on their way to victory. “I love the SSG ‘Digitals’ due to their durability, perfect feel, and the grip they give me on the reins,” explained Ekeroth, who was also wearing SSG ‘Digital’ gloves when he placed third in the $25,000 Balancing Tonic Grand Prix held earlier in the day. “Riding so many horses each day, either training or showing, I know that my SSG ‘Digitals’ will hold up and give me a constant contact with my horses.” SSG Gloves offered a total of $12,000 in bonus money to competitors during the 2013 show season at Sonoma Horse Park. In the ‘Roar for Four’ promotion, riders had to be wearing one of four styles of SSG gloves in order to be eligible for the bonus money: Digital, Hybrid, Technical, or All-Weather.
