September 19, 2013 – Petaluma, CA – Three lucky riders rode away with a combined total of $2,000 in bonus money as part of the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Roar for Four’ promotion held during the Strides & Tides competition from September 11 to 15 at the Sonoma Horse Park in Petaluma, CA.

Running exclusively at Sonoma Horse Park, the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Roar for Four’ promotion sees four different classes selected as eligible events at each horse show, with a $500 bonus on offer to the winning riders if they are wearing one of four styles of SSG gloves.

Stevie Sorenson was the big winner, earning a $1,000 bonus from the Canadian glove manufacturer for her win in the $1,500 Child/Adult-Amateur Jumper Classic on September 15.  Riding Tyrone, a 13-year-old Polish-bred gelding owned by Julie Young and Teresa Keville, Sorenson topped a field of 31 entries to earn victory.  The bonus had doubled to $1,000 as the winning rider in the $20,000 Stable Mix Grand Prix, held earlier in the week, had not been wearing SSG riding gloves.

“I always wear my SSG gloves,” said Sorenson.  “I absolutely love the SSG ‘Digitals’.  I have enough grip on my reins and the Velcro wrist never comes undone.  I can trust them!  Thank you to SSG for this great rider bonus program.”

Eleanor Hellman took home a $500 bonus from SSG for her win in the $10,000 Circle Oak Equine Junior/Amateur Hunter Derby on September 13.  The 22-year-old stylishly piloted Argiste to the top of a 36-horse starting field.  Hellman purchased the eight-year-old Hanoverian gelding four years ago and has brought him up through the ranks with the assistance of her trainer, Hope Glynn of Sonoma Valley Stables.

Hellman learned the hard way to always show in her SSG gloves.  At the HMI Equestrian Classic I in July, she won a hunter classic with $2,500 in bonus money on the line, but had forgotten to change into her SSG gloves.

“I like to keep them nice so I didn’t wear them; I’ll never do that again!” she explained.  “I threw away all of my non-SSG gloves and will never wear another brand again.”

She continued, “I love the SSG gloves because they stay darker longer and never turn your hands black like some other brands do.  I have long fingers and love the gussets; they fit me perfectly.  They’re so lightweight and feel great.”

Emma Townsend also earned a $500 bonus from SSG for her win in the $1,000 Charleigh Cookies Junior/Amateur Owner Hunter Classic on September 15.  Townsend, who also trains with Glynn at Sonoma Valley Stables, put in a stunning round on her 11-year-old gelding, CR Haribo, to earn the blue ribbon.

“SSG gloves have great grip and aren’t too thick, so I can have a light touch on my reins,” noted the 23-year-old from Larkspur, CA.  “I will be buying three or four new pairs.  I want to try all of the styles!”

SSG Gloves is offering a total of $12,000 in bonus money to competitors during the 2013 show season at Sonoma Horse Park.  In the ‘Roar for Four’ promotion, riders must be wearing one of four styles of SSG gloves in order to be eligible for the bonus money: Digital, Hybrid, Technical, or All-Weather.

Designed to reward competitors for their loyalty to the SSG Riding Gloves brand, a $500 bonus is on offer to the winning rider in designated events at Sonoma Horse Park if they are wearing eligible styles of SSG Riding Gloves with the horse head logo clearly visible in all rounds of competition.  If the winning rider is not wearing SSG Riding Gloves, the bonus money is carried forward to the next event, increasing from $500 to $1,000, etc.

The final event in the 2013 SSG Riding Gloves ‘Roar for Four’ promotion at Sonoma Horse Park will be the SHP Season Finale, running September 18 through 22.

SSG Riding Gloves are available for purchase on-site at Sonoma Horse Park at Cross Creek Tack Shop and The Equestrian’s Concierge.
