June 5, 2013 – Langley, BC – For the second week in a row, Kyle King took home the bonus money in the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion running throughout the 2013 season at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC.

Now in its third year at Thunderbird Show Park, Canadian glove manufacturer SSG Gloves is offering a total of $12,000 in bonus money through its ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion to reward both hunter and jumper riders for their loyalty to the SSG brand.

Having claimed a $1,000 bonus for wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style gloves while winning the $25,000 Canadian Premier Grand Prix on Sunday, May 26, King returned to dominate the competition yet again in the $55,000 Purica Recovery EQ World Cup Grand Prix on June 1.  He was once again wearing his SSG ‘Digitals’ on his way to victory riding Quigley to claim another $1,000 bonus.

“The SSG ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion is awesome!” exclaimed King, who topped a 26-horse starting field.  “I love riding in the gloves because they are light and grippy.”

King has only been partnered with Paul Politeski’s Quigley, a 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding, for the past two weeks, making their win in the World Cup qualifying event all the more impressive.

The $1,000 SSG bonus was also awarded in the hunter ring, with Eliza Hunt taking the win in the $2,500 Dexter & Associates Canadian Hunter Derby.  Of the 34-horse starting field, 26 of the entered riders were wearing SSG ‘Digital’ gloves to be eligible for the $1,000 bonus.  Hunt emerged victorious with Amigo, a seven-year-old Holsteiner that she has been riding since purchasing him as a four-year-old from Gleneden Stables of Salmon Arm, BC.  The $2,500 Dexter & Associates Canadian Hunter Derby marked the pair’s fourth hunter derby appearance, and their first at the 3’6” height.

“SSG’s ‘Go Clean for the Green’ is a wonderful program,” said Hunt.  “It’s such a treat to win a bonus for wearing the best pair of gloves.  They are extremely comfortable, breathe well, and fit great.  ‘Digitals’ have a super comfortable grip, and I highly recommend them to other riders.”

For 2013, SSG Gloves has increased the bonus money offered in Thunderbird Show Park’s hunter derby competitions from $500 to $1,000.  As in the past, a $1,000 bonus is also on offer to the winner of designated grand prix show jumping classes.  If the winning rider in any designated event is wearing SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves with the horse head logo clearly visible in all rounds of competition, they will be presented with a bonus cheque in front of the SSG signature jump during the awards presentation.
