August 13, 2012 –
Aboard Urban, an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding that she has been partnered with for the past six seasons, Marano posted one of only two double clear performances to take the win. Her time of 42.77 seconds gave her the victory over Aaron Vale and Palm Sunday, who stopped the clock in 43.45 seconds. “I love these gloves,” said Marano, who purchased her SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves during the ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion at the 2012 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. “I don’t normally wear gloves, but now I always do. I bought my ‘Digitals’ in Florida this year because of this promotion.” The SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion is offering $30,000 in bonus money throughout the 2012 Kentucky Horse Shows events held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Riders wearing SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves with the SSG horse head logo clearly visible during all rounds of competition in designated events are eligible for the bonus. A $2,000 bonus in each of the grand prix events at this summer’s Kentucky Horse Shows are up for grabs, with any bonus money not awarded being carried forward to the next event in the series. Luckily for Marano, the bonus money had continued to accumulate, having gone unclaimed for the past three grand prix events. Paige Johnson, winner of the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic, Aaron Vale, winner of the $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, and Kaitlin Campbell, winner of the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic II, all missed out on the bonus money by opting not to wear SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves on their way to their respective victories. It was to Marano’s advantage, however, as the bonus had increased to $8,000 for her win in the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Grand Prix. All five of the riders advancing to the jump-off in the Rood & Riddle Grand Prix were sporting SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves, guaranteeing that the $8,000 bonus would be collected. “I think everyone knew tonight was the night, and everyone wanted it,” smiled Marano. “It’s funny, you go in and sometimes you wear gloves, and sometimes you don’t. Tonight I decided that, without a doubt, they were going to be on my hands.” Marano continued, “I think I am going to share the bonus money with my groom, Jose. He has been with Urban just as long as I have, and he really deserves it.” Gabrielle Bausano of New York, NY, earned a $1,000 bonus from SSG Riding Gloves for her win in the Show Jumping Hall of Fame High Junior Jumper Classic, also held on Saturday, August 4. Riding Ubico H, her 11-year-old chestnut Dutch Warmblood gelding, Bausano put in the only double clear performance of the class, which only saw one other rider from the starting field of 29 advance to the jump-off. “I always wear my ‘Digitals’, no matter what,” said Bausano, who also bought the gloves while competing this winter in Florida. “They’ve been the only kind of gloves I’ve worn since I learned about the promotion.” Bausano, who trains with Stacia Madden, recently competed at the 2012 North American Junior and Young Riders’ Championship in Lexington, KY, where she and Ubico H finished seventh individually in the Junior division. The following classes are still to come in the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion for the 2012 Kentucky Horse Show season: Kentucky Bluegrass Classic – August 15-19 Friday, August 17 – $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic Sunday, August 19 – $50,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix Sunday, August 19 – Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic Kentucky Hunter Jumper Horse Show – August 22-26 Friday, August 24 – $10,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic Sunday, August 26 – $30,000 KHJA Grand Prix Sunday, August 26 – Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic For more information on the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion, please visit www.ssgridinggloves.com or contact promotion manager, Jennifer Ward of Starting Gate Communications at contactus@startinggate.ca. |
