May 21, 2012 – Lexington, KY 15-year-old show jumping sensation Emanuel Andrade of Venezuela added two more titles to his ever-growing list of achievements, picking up the Low Junior Jumper Championship and High Junior Jumper Reserve Championship titles during the CSI2* Kentucky Spring Classic II held May 16 to 20 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Having won the Low Junior Jumper Championship during the first week of competition with Mikos, Andrade returned to the Rolex Stadium to successfully defend his title, this time riding Casanova Junior.  A 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Casanova Junior carried Andrade to three top three placings throughout the week, culminating in a second place finish in Sunday’s $2,500 Low Junior Jumper Classic.

“It took Emanuel a little bit of time to figure him out but since he did, they have become very successful,” said Andrade’s trainer, Angel Karolyi, of his student’s partnership with Casanova Junior.  “He has been riding him for a little over a year now, and it is a horse that is very fast across the ground, but naturally slows himself down when he gets to the jumps to jump cleanly.  Some horses get flat when they are jumping at speed, but he doesn’t.  He is very careful, and as long as Emanuel uses his lower leg to create impulsion and keeps him straight over the jumps, Casanova Junior will always jump clear for him.”

Also in week two, Andrade claimed the High Junior Jumper Reserve Championship title with Tiny Tim, a horse purchased this winter from British veteran, Nick Skelton.  The pair won Saturday’s High Junior Jumper class and also placed third in Friday’s competition before finishing out the week with a top 10 finish in the $10,000 High Junior Jumper Classic.

“He is super careful and has good scope,” said Andrade of Tiny Tim, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding.  “He is big for me and not easy to ride, but we are developing a good partnership and he is helping me to improve my riding ability.”

Proving his abilities are not limited to the Junior Jumper division, Andrade went up against the professional riders to win Saturday’s final Six-Year-Old Young Jumper competition with Black Pearl.  The pair had also scored a win in qualifying competition in the Six-Year-Old division during week one in Kentucky.  Venezuela dominated the Young Horse classes on Saturday, May 19, with Andres Rodriguez winning the Seven and Eight-Year-Old Division riding Aberdeen while Pablo Barrios claimed the Five-Year-Old Division with Balou.

“He is capable of not only competing against professional riders, but also winning against them, and that is really good to see,” said Karolyi who operates Hollow Creek Farm in Aiken, South Carolina, with business partner Andrea King.  “His win with Black Pearl shows that he can hold his own.”

Proud of his star student’s accomplishments, Karolyi smiled, “Emanuel loves all of his horses, and he especially likes when he is winning with them!  He had two solid weeks of jumping, and winning championship and reserve championship titles in week two is a great way to finish up the Kentucky Spring Classics.”

Andrade made a name for himself earlier this year by dominating the 2012 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida.  Competing in a division open to riders 18 years of age and under, Andrade claimed 23 victories, six Championship titles, and 12 Reserve Championship titles.  At the end of the 12-week circuit, Andrade was named the Future Champions Leading Junior Jumper Rider.

At 15 years of age, the sport of show jumping is still a learning process for Andrade, but his aptitude for the sport is undeniable.  A competitive show jumping in his native Venezuela where he attends school, Andrade commutes back and forth to the United States for major show jumping tournaments.

Andrade trains with Karolyi, a Venezuelan Show Jumping Team veteran who most recently represented his country in the 2012 $75,000 G & C Nations’ Cup in Wellington, Florida, and Andrea King of Hollow Creek Farm, based in Aiken, South Carolina.  For more information on Hollow Creek Farm, a large training business focusing on both horses and riders, please visit www.hollowcreekfarms.com.
