May 6, 2010 – Moffat, Ontario – Canada’s Cara Whitham was released from hospital on Thursday, May 6, and will resume her judging duties beginning with the CDI3* Allentown, NJ, from May 27-30, 2010.

Whitham of Moffat, ON, holds her FEI 5* (previously called‘O’) judge’s card in both dressage and eventing, and will be a member of the dressage ground jury at the upcoming 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY. Also an international and national competition organizer, Whitham is the President of Equivents, Inc., and will host the Equivents Spring Dressage Classic from May 21-23 and the Equivents Summer Dressage Classic from June 25-27, both held at Iron Horse Equestrian Complex in Milton, ON.

Whitham suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on March 8, resulting in two months of hospitalization and physical rehabilitation.

“I was lucky that it was a hemorrhagic stroke that did not spread, and that I have been able to make a fast recovery,” noted Whitham. “At the moment, I would not be accepted at a horse inspection, but I am able to walk on my own with the use of a cane as my right leg muscles get stronger.”

Following CDI3* Allentown, Whitham will judge CDI3* Pompadour, FRA, from July 1 to 4; CDI3* Vierzon, FRA, from July 7 to 11; and CDI3* Hartpury, GBR, from July 14-17. She then travels to Puerto Rico for the Central American Games held July 21 to 25 where she will act as the President of the Ground Jury for both the eventing and the dressage competitions. From there, Whitham heads to Lexington, KY, where she will be the President of the Ground Jury for the dressage portion of the North American Young Riders’ and Junior Championship from July 28 to August 1.

Whitham will continue with a few clinics and judging throughout August to early September before returning to Kentucky for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games from September 25 to October 10.

“I am really looking forward to judging at the World Equestrian Games,” noted Whitham, who is happy to be back in action. “I am really grateful for all of the cards and kind words that I have received from around the world.”
