June 20, 2006 – Ottawa, Ontario – The ‘KUBOTA’ Capital Classic Show Jumping Tournament is pleased to welcome Brookstreet Hotel as a presenting sponsor at this year's event running July 12-16, 2006, at the Nepean National Equestrian Park in Ottawa, ON.

The luxury hotel located in Ottawa, ON, will be the sponsor of the $35,000 Brookstreet Jumping Derby, taking place Saturday afternoon, July 15. A crowd favourite, the Jumping Derby sees the horses and riders negotiate the natural obstacles on the grass Grand Prix field, including the bank, the open water, and the dreaded 'devil's dyke'. In addition, Brookstreet will have its own signature jump. Conrad Homfeld, Olympic Gold and Silver Medallist for the United States, will be the course designer for this year's events.

Among the riders expected to compete is hometown favourite and eight-time Olympian, Ian Millar. In 2005, the Perth, ON, tied for victory in the Jumping Derby and, this year, will be hoping to have the winner's circle all to himself. He will face stiff opposition from another past winner, Yann Candele of France, who is renowned for his ability to compete at top speeds. Also making his debut at the Capital Classic will be Joe Fargis, double Gold Medallist for the U.S. at the 1984 Olympic Games. Fargis, who has been riding a winning streak all spring, is coming north of the border in an effort to claim his share of the more than $150,000 in prize money offered over the five-day tournament.

Following the $35,000 Brookstreet Jumping Derby, the athletes can unwind on Saturday evening when the Brookstreet plays hosts to the exhibitor's party.

"As a local sporting event striving to bring world-class equestrian competition to the nation's capital, we really appreciate the support that Brookstreet has shown," says Ralph Shaw, President of the Capital Classic Show Jumping Tournament. "Since Brookstreet opened a few years ago, our competitors have come to appreciate the high quality of service offered by the hotel, and it's convenient location to the Nepean National Equestrian Park makes it a natural choice."

The Brookstreet Hotel is comprised of 256 guest rooms, including 35 suites. Amenities include the award-winning Perspectives restaurant, a full-service spa and fitness studio, and The Marshes Golf Club, making it a popular choice with Capital Classic competitors.
