Ainsley Vince Fastest of the Fast at Royal Horse Show

November 6, 2004 – Toronto, Ontario – Ainsley Vince of Milton, ON, blazed to victory in the $15,000 Canadian Indoor Speed Championship held Saturday night at the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON.

In an event where speed was the name of the game, Vince was the winning player, riding to victory with Iron Horse Nicarta, a nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare owned by the Aziz family of Caledon, ON.

“She was excellent, we were so happy with her,” exclaimed Vince, 22, who began riding Iron Horse Nicarta in August. “As we were nearing the end of the course, I could hear the crowd getting really wound up, so I knew that we were fast. It was the first time that I have gone really fast with her. We have been quite conservative up until now, just so we could get comfortable with one another.”

The two-time Canadian Show Jumping Champion was the only rider to accumulate 22 points in the speed competition while six riders picked up 20 points, the fastest being Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, riding Ned Boy. Erynn Ballard of Hornby, ON, placed third with Rio’s Rhapsody, a Canadian-bred mare owned by Sterling Honda. Jonathon Millar of Perth, ON, rode to fourth place with Jacquet while Jill Henselwood of Oxford Mills, ON, finished fifth aboard Nicole.
